Agricultural insurance is designed to protect farmers, livestock breeders, and operators against financial losses caused by natural hazards or accidents affecting their activity.
She covers several domains :
  • Crops: losses due to drought, floods, hail, insects, diseases, fires, etc.
  • Livestock farming: animal mortality, epidemics, theft, and accidents.
  • Agricultural equipment: degradation, fire or theft of equipment.
  • Farm buildings: damage to sheds, granaries, warehouses.
Main objectives:
  • Secure agricultural income
  • Encourage rural investment
  • Strengthening resilience to climate change
  • Promote access to credit
In Mali, this type of insurance is still developing, often supported by pilot projects, NGOs, or linked to micro-insurance.
